Scale the World - The Round Mountain Day 1 of 32

"Scale" -- To mount or climb.

You have a round mountain to scale. That mountain is the world.

Your world. Our world.

I do not have to tell you that the world faces its most deadly of epidemics.

It is not AIDS, cancer, or even heart disease.

It is obesity, fear, and disillusionment.

The next 32 days will cover all three of these viruses and how you can cure the disease, starting with the person in the mirror.

We always start there -- deal? Sure

We will begin our ascent today, and set base camp when you feel sufficiently challenged. Then we will resume tomorrow.

I want you to begin our summit by taking a good hard look at your gear.

Here's your checklist:

1. Your mind -- open, receptive, and ready for input. Yes it is. What is your game plan and strategy for your coming ascent? To be honest with myself and my answers.

2. Your meals -- do you have the right food for the journey ahead? Yes I have cleaned out my cupboards, fridge and freezer. There is only healthy food available.

3. Your muscle -- ready to use it? Ready to be a bit sore, but blissfully spent at the end of the day? As ready as they ever will be

4. Your motion -- what direction are you committed to? Up? Sideways? A retreat, perhaps? How
does "forward" sound to you? Forward sounds good.....

Now, let's start packing.

Packing will consume the first week of our scale to the ultimate peak -- your peak. Your world view.

Most people fail because they simply do not take the time to pack properly -- to plan ahead, commit to the plans they make, and then make the plan on e that they will enjoy.

Yes, that is correct -- enjoy.

This trip is going to be fun.

Have you considered that the reason for 'any' dissatisfaction in your life may simply be due to
the fact you did not enjoy what you were doing? Yes which is why I resigned from my job and now about to start another job in a difference direction.

What if you could teach yourself to enjoy anything that provided you with a greater view? That would be fantastic and I can't wait.

You see, we are all after a greater view:

-- A world view that is sound and compassionate.
-- A self-view that is compassionate and truthful.
-- A future view that is truthful and progressive.
-- A beautiful view of all the wonder around us.

Anything that propels you toward a greater view is something you can learn to enjoy.

Why?

Because we all love beauty.

Start today with this thought:

Seek what is truly beautiful in life, and share it with everyone you love.

I'm not talking about "vanity" -- although physical beauty is nothing to be ashamed of. I'm speaking of true beauty -- the beauty of a life in motion, of a person in growth, of a body in metamorphosis.

Become beauty.

Link beauty to the climb. Remember, the view you seek is one of utter transcendence. One of awesome, breathtaking beauty.

Today we will begin by looking at the Mind, the first of four elements that every World Scaler must have tucked away securely in their gear bag.

We have already begun, you know -- changing your focus from, "I'm ugly", or "I'm fat", to "I seek beauty in all things and will settle for nothing less."

This is a major step forward. Your first step. Be excited about it -- the first step is the hardest and yet one that anyone can make. Think about it.

Part of beauty is release. Beauty is the release of all things ugly and the pursuit of all things true.

Therefore, to be truthful with yourself, let's begin with one of the most powerful truth-based statements you can ever accept:

"I seek to release everything necessary to gain a beautiful view from any and all directions."

Perhaps you glance sideways and catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror. What do you see? I currently do not like what I see, I see an unhappy, overweight person who doesn't like herself. What do you need to RELEASE in order to see what you long for? I need to release my unhappiness, the hatered I have for myself and not be so hard on myself.

Do you need to release some fat? Oh Yes, big time.........

How about some emotional baggage? Oh Yes lots of it........

Some anger, perhaps? That's for sure.....

What about expectations? Can you see unrealistic expectations and the damage they have created in your eyes? Does this weigh you down? Yes to all of these questions. I have very high standards and expectations of myself.

Release it. Decide right now that you will release it, and do so without anger or remorse.

Be thankful for what these feelings and your body have taught you -- and then kiss these feelings and any unwanted body fat good-bye. Any physical challenges? I am not happy with how much I weigh and my apple body shape.... Meet them with joy rather than anger. You will find your mind is much more open to coping and creative solutions when you are in a state of gratitude.

Anger, pain, extra body fat, and a mindset of disempowerment are not welcome.

None of the above are required for our climb.

They will only serve to impair you, force you to work harder, and perhaps demand a descent mid-way to the summit.

You are in for the climb, and that climb stops only at the top.

So, we begin here -- with the basics. With the first and most crucial steps. Every day the climb
will become more specific, but the basics must be mastered first.

Dig deep, and you will discover that the basics are what you have been missing.

Everyone has something to release -- everyone.

Your mission today is to write out 5-10 things you will release over the next 32 days.

1. Extra body fat.
2. Anger.
3. Mindset that I can't do it.
4. Too high expectations.
5. Emotional Baggage.
6. Negative thoughts.
7. Negative actions.
8. I am ugly.

Do not worry about "how". Instead, remember this: "why" is always more powerful than "how". Knowing why will propel you upward. All the "hows" in the world can keep you locked at base camp.

The answer never has been more knowledge. The answer has always been a reason to act,
and act boldly.

We have covered but one of our many reasons today: the acquisition of the ultimate view. A
view of life that is full of hope and sharing. A view in the mirror that excites and transforms.

A self-view that's healthy and sound.

A beautiful view. It is yours to grasp. Just begin the climb and set your mind in the direction
called "forward" and the compass facing "due beauty". North, south, east, west -- overweight,
thin, male, female. They are all the same.

Nothing matters but the beauty of the moment. The beauty of the journey. The knowledge that
you will eventually stand atop the greatest of all summits -- the world itself.

Until then, put your climbing shoes on and go for a nice long walk tonight. I went for a 2 hour walk with my friend Lynda (Bay walk) today...... I really enjoyed walking outside in the fresh air.

That was a real suggestion -- go for a walk. You will be walking a lot during the next 32 days,
and feeling better each and every step. In fact, plan on walking a bit more every day for the
next 32 days. If you cannot walk due to injury or pain, choose another activity that is moderate
and enjoyable. As Scalers, we must move.

Take a look around you. Take it all in. Walk for however long you can enjoy it, and then remind
yourself that you have just began your summit of the Round Mountain -- your own personal World.

Tomorrow -- The breadth and the height.

Scale the World Prep - Part 3

Below is the 3rd part to the introduction to Scale the World. Again I will type my thoughts and answers in coloured type.

Get Ready To Scale The World: Part 3 of 3

24 hours, and we start our ascent. Excited? Yes I also started the Weight Watchers Core program today. I did slip a bit and had 6 points of fudge today so I only have 16 points for non core food left for the week. On the plus side I did go for a 30 minute walk today. Brad and I also walked around Darling Harbour, Chinatown and Paddy's markets for 3 hours today and I'm not including any points for that.

Today's message is simple: I would like you to have some 10-minute conversations with a few people. These are the people on the ground, or perhaps on the climb with you -- the people you love the most.

Tell them how much you count on them for ongoing support. Let them know how crucial this climb is for you. Tell them how your life will not be the same once you've seen the summit of the "possible."

Make sure they know you'll always be there for them, but demand the same in return. Do not let anyone turn you away from the path you've decided to take --the path toward abundance, health and mastery.

There are those who will want to tie you down. They are afraid of change, and they want you to keep them and their fear company. You cannot do that and care for them at the same time.

Do not harbor anger toward them.

Remember, anger is energy that pulls you back to ground zero. We must foster energy that "propels you forward". Only, always, and forever forward.

Instead, forgive and encourage them to join you. Most of the people you love the most will support you from the air or from the ground -- and that is a wonderful thing.

You need support. This climb is not to be made alone. Yes, you have us, but you need support from those you "really want to influence."

That is the key.

Your assignment for today:

Make a list of the three people you most want to influence during the next 32 days. Keep this list with you at all times. Under each name, write down how you want to influence them, and how committed you are to making your influence a reality. My 3 people's names are Brad, Shona and Paul.

What do you want them to see in you in 32 days? I want them to see me more in control of my food, emotions, thoughts & feelings. Also to be a happier and thinner person. How do you want to see their lives impacted simply by seeing what you will accomplish? They will be inspired by my success that they will also want to accomplish similar outcomes......

Remember, you're making the climb for them as well as for yourself.

The larger you make your goal, the more important it becomes in your mind. The more you focus on it, the more "urgent" it becomes...

...and your mind follows the call of the urgent.

You're ready to Scale The World.

= = We begin our ascent tomorrow = =

Weigh in Day - Week 16

Today was weigh in day and I lost 900 grams, mind you 600 grams of it was last weeks gain but that's OK. I was pleased especially seeing I went over points (only by a few during the week) and didn't really exercise much due to the rain.

Start Weight on 8/2/2008 = 115.9 kilos

Last week 10/5/2008 = 106.5 kilos
This week 17/5/2008 = 105.6 kilos
Loss this week 0.9 kilos.
Loss so far 10.3 kilos in 16 weeks.

I've already been for a 30 min walk this morning and will try to do another walk this afternoon.

I'm also switching to the Core Program this week. I so hope it goes well.

I so need to get of the one week loss next week gain, then loss treadmill I've been on for a few months now.

I also need to get back on track and have regular losses if I am going to reach my 90 kilos reward of shopping in Phuket, as I'm not on track to achieve it at the moment.

Scale the World Prep part 2 of 3

The Black writing is the 2nd Prep email that I have received from Scale the World and I will make some comments in different colours through out it.

Are you getting prepared? Yes I have stuck to my points and eaten better the past few days......... I'm happy about that........

Do you have your gear checked, your mind ready, and your adrenaline flowing? Yes I am ready....... How is your food supply? It is good and I am prepared.........What did you eat and drink yesterday and today?

Lesson number one for today is this:

Do not beat yourself up. Yes I do a lot of this and know that I have to stop but have problems doing this mainly cause I've been doing it to myself for so long I don't know how to stop.

Let me be honest -- that round mountain is a heck of a climb. You know it, I know it, and everyone who is already up there and waiting for you knows it.

Those who have backslid and are now having to scale it again with a few injuries know it.

But, that's okay. Really.

The key is to not beat yourself up any more than the climb itself. That alone is enough to endure. Hey, it's fun, but it's tough -- so don't feel the need to make it harder by weakening the only person making the journey.

This journey is not going to be an easy one for me but one I need to do. It will probably be one step forward and then one back but as long as I keep going then I will be OK and conquer it.

You simply must stop harming our number one climber -- you. We need "you" for this endeavor. Having a depressed, nay-saying you will do us little good. We need a you that's willing to forgive.

That's right -- I'm asking you to forgive yourself. Right now. Forgive your body for doing what your mind has asked it to do, or perhaps what your genes have told it to do. It's only trying to follow through. I forgive my body for doing what my mind has asked it to do.

Often times this means storing more fat. Many times, as you'll see when "Scale The World" starts in 2 days, YOU are the one telling it to store fat. That's not really what you want to do, now is it? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO it is not what I really want...........

Sometimes it's your genes, and they may need some help from the power of your mind to "re-program" a bit. Don't worry --we'll cover how to do this in due time.

For now, all I want you to do is say this...oddly enough, to your own body:

"Thank you for taking me this far. I realize you are only doing what you're told by my mind and my genes, and I'm dedicated to learning what's really best for you in both areas. Let's work together from today on and scale this world as one." These are great words and yes I did read them to my body....... For me losing weight is not just about what I eat and then doing some exercise. Its about why I sabotage myself with food, negative thoughts & actions, not exercising and a lot of this is my mind telling my body to do the opposite of what it should be doing.

Sound silly?

Try it.

Forgiveness is massive. The sheer energy that fear, hate and anger generate is astounding, and that energy is like a huge magnet "pulling you down to earth."

Our goal is to climb above what we think our limitations are...to scale our own world. A larger world than we imagine.

A greater world than we have dreamed.

We cannot have this excess weight, so please -- cut it loose, right now.

While you're at it, see what other excess weight you can cut loose before we start our ascent.

See who else you can forgive.

Take this to the bank -- the journey to excellence begins with a clean mind, and forgiveness is the eternal cleanser.

Drink that water, eat that clean, simple food, and get set...

= = Your Adventure Begins in 2 Days = =

I know that I need to change a lot of aspects of my life and one are of that is my lack of self confidence and esteem. Whilst a lot of what is said above may sound a little over the top or corny I do need to work out why I sabotage myself or let others sabotage my efforts.

Coke Zero

I so love Coke Zero, so much more than Diet Coke and I didn't think I would ever say that..........

However, I think I need to admit that I am addicted to this stuff and I can drink up to 3 litres of it a day. Points wise on Weight Watchers, it is considered OK as it has 0 points but it isn't good for you in such large amounts. I know that it is full of artificial sugar and chemicals and not good for me in huge amounts but I can't get enough of it. It can get to the point that all I want to drink is Coke Zero and don't drink any water at all during the day. This has to stop and I've tried to go cold turkey and I end up craving it later in the day and give in.

From tomorrow 6 June 2008 I will cut down. I will need to do this one day at a time but I can do it. At least I can say that I only have 1 x 2 litre bottle of it left in the house.

Tomorrow 6 June 2008, I will drink more water, (even if I have to have diet cordial in it) than I drink Coke Zero. I will even try for 50/50 mix and only drink 1 litre of it.

I was good for a while and only had 1 x 600 ml bottle per day but I have slipped and slipped big time. I'll let you know how I go.

Scale the World Website & 32 day program/course

I found this website Scale the World a few years ago and actually joined up to do the 32 day program, but can never remember actually finishing it. Having said that, I don't think I ever it cause I got busy at work and life which doesn't surprise me, as I didn't finish a lot of things back then.

I was going through some old posts on my tonight and came across it again.

I thought I'd give it another go in conjunction with Weight Watchers. I thought it might help me to understand why I do the things I do to myself i.e. sabotage my efforts, negative thoughts etc.

"Their initial email is as follows:-

Welcome aboard a journey toward.

Toward what, you ask? Toward a better, more enlightened future. Toward a lighter, more empowered you. Toward the life you were designed to create.

This journey will be full of surprises. There will be days of total breakthroughs followed by days of utter challenge -- and that's okay.

Our goal is 32 days of consistent, open- minded, enjoyable effort. Learning, changing, expanding, growing healthier in every way, and sharing this with the people you care about.

I will not deceive you -- the summit of your life can be a formidable climb. The alternative
is to forever stay at base camp and never wander beyond the confines of what you consider safe ground.

That safe ground is where most avalanches find their final home. This is how life can manage to bury you -- by staying put.

Consider how life can snowball, and how much easier it is to hit a motionless target. All of this is the result of fear. And, as of today, you can dedicate yourself to living fearlessly.

. . . . . . . . . . .

IMPORTANT NOTE!

"Scale The World" is written in a unique style that allows for direct answers and non-direct subconscious interaction. The goal was to get your conscious and your subconscious mind working on the day's challenges and lessons.

Each email offers specific things to do and think about. This is the conscious part of the program. The "analogy" of climbing is used throughout the course. Inside that analogy contains many mental 'gems' of information. Some of the emails will read almost like "prose", others like direct messages to you.

Both aspects are crucial to your overall success in Scale The World.

With that in mind, please understand that 'some' of the messages may not be so easy to understand at first. That's okay... that's the way the course was designed. Your mind will work overtime on the words as long as you read them and do the assignments. The end result is a program that teaches and alters negative patterns of thought at the same time.

. . . . . . . . . . .

Let's start today with the first of three "Prepare Yourself For The Climb" emails. These are designed to get you ready for "Scale The World", which officially begins for you in 3 days.

Step one: stretch your legs.

Get up right now. It doesn't matter where you are -- you can do this anywhere.

Inhale. Take a deep breath, and raise your arms above your head. Now, stretch.

People around you will assume you're just...stretching. You're not.

You're reaching.

Look up when you do this. See yourself in your mind's eye reaching for the next crevasse in the rock; the next foot-hold. The next bit of level ground.

The better view.

I'd like you to spend time just enjoying the little things. Living in the moment.

This may sound trivial, perhaps even silly. Then again, most every simple answer confounds those seeking complication.

Now, here's what I need you to do:

1. Begin drinking pure water every day. Just make sure you consume more water than any other fluid.

2. Purchase and consume food that you "can see". This is food that contains primarily "one ingredient." Let's make this simple, shall we?

An apple has one ingredient: apple! Same goes for a breast of chicken, or a cup of brown rice.

Spices are fine -- they do not count.

Also, don't worry about eating "perfect". Just eat foods you enjoy, and get about 75% of your foods from unprocessed sources. Think "no white" and it's hard to go wrong. White flour, white rice, white sugar. All of this is white death.

We want living food.

Again, shoot for 75%. The other 25% can be "ordinary foods" -- just keep this in mind:

ordinary people eat ordinary foods.

Our goal is the extraordinary, and that can be much more simplistic than you may think.

Still, consider this fact: in golf, 3 good shots out of 4 puts you on par. That's 75/25, and that's all you need to make the journey a success.

If you're feeling really adventurous, shoot for 85/15. Your body will change "exponentially" as you increase that top number and decrease that bottom one.

3. I'd like you to start a Scale The World Daily Journal. A notebook of your thoughts, your activity, your foods, and your goals. What do you feel like when you eat a certain way, or after a nice long walk?

That's it for now...oh, except for this: enjoy yourself. "

I think this will work in perfectly with the Core program on Weight Watchers, which I am thinking of switching to on Saturday (weight in day). Will see how it goes and hopefully I can complete it this time, after all its just 32 days............

I will also use this blog as my Scale The World Daily Journal, that way I will blog here every day and not have to double blog stuff. You will just have to get use to seeing more of me around here. LOL

My Measurements for May 2008

Measurements are another fantastic way to see myself shrinking.

I must admit that I did commit a mortal sin when I started weight watchers in February 2008 and forgot to take my measurements the first week. I did take them at the beginning of 2008 so I guess I will have to measure myself against those numbers.

Weight 26/12/07 is 114.8 kilos (Weight Watchers Start Weight is 115.9 kilos)
Arms are 44 Cm's
Hips are 143 Cm's
Chest is 120 Cm's
Thighs are 66 Cm's
Upper Stomach is 137 Cm's

Weight 05/06/2008 is 105.9 kilos
Arms are 40 Cm's
Hips are 138 Cm's
Chest is 120 Cm's
Thighs are 62 Cm's
Upper Stomach is 130 Cm's

That's a total of 20 cm's in the past 5 months. Pretty good considering the only exercise I do is walking and then again don't do much of it.

I might just have to bit the bullet and join the gym now instead of waiting to lose the 1.5 kilos that I need to get my 10% goal reward.

Can't Believe it is so easy

I've been blogging on and off for 2 years now and have always wondered how other blogger's made their layouts look so good.

Well its taken a while but I've finally worked it out and have now updated my blog to show my goals on the side, my weight loss journey and diet tracker.....

Yeah to me ..................I was so excited and also felt very stupid when I realised how easy it was to do.

I can be a bit clueless sometimes when it comes to computers and layouts..........

I don't want to have an Apple Shape Body...........

I was pretty excited after yesterday's blog about reducing clothing sizes, I asked Brad if he could take some photos of me in my new tops, well after I saw the photos all the excitement immediately left me. I so don't like what I saw and to think I thought I looked good in these tops when I looked at myself in the mirror. How wrong I was. OK I can be really hard on myself but this looks horrible. All I can see is the roll of fat I have above my belly button commonly known as a muffin top.

This top above is the one from Target (size 20 top and 18 jeans). Oh that is Zac trying to hide behind me on the floor near my legs.

I've also recently discovered that I actually have an apple shaped body where as I thought I had a pear shaped one. I am so not happy with having an apple shaped body and think I look horrible. All I can see is all the fat around my middle and arms. I think my legs look OK but I also need to lose some weight there. I also realised that I can not change my shape and I will always be an apple shape, just a smaller one. This does not make me feel any better about things.

The 2nd picture above is a top from Autograph (size 20 top and 18 jeans). Oh that is Zac trying to hid behind me on the floor near my legs.

And this 3rd picture is also a top from Autograph and my favourite (size 20 top and 18 jeans).

My eating, tracking and sticking to my daily points hasn't been all that good this week and I'm not expecting much of a result. As an excuse, its been raining fairly hard and been so cold this week, which hasn't inspired me to exercise. You could say Winter has really set in and its only the 3rd day of it. Oh joy can't wait for it to really get cold. I really do need a gym membership or my Wii console, so I can train inside during this horrible weather but I have not yet dropped the weight to get these rewards. The Gym membership is only 1.5 kilos away.

Whilst tracking points is ideal for me, especially with Brad also on weight watchers and doing points, I really don't think my head or body agree with it. Having said that I'm not going to stop my weight loss journey, but I am seriously thinking of switching to the Core program. That way I can only eat 21 points a week of weight watches products or non core food which is 3 points per day. Brad just loves the weight watchers products, despite the fact they are getting to be rather expensive in the supermarket. Losing weight is very new for Brad and he is so into buying the weight watchers snack products, instead of alternate and sometimes cheaper products. I'm the type of person if it's in the house then I need to eat it too and I do tend to eat too much of. I have until Saturday to make up my mind about switching to core but at this stage I'm pretty sure that I will. I do have a lot of weight watchers cook books that have core recipes in them including the core recipe book which has points for all the recipes in it. It can be done but would be easier if we both did either Core or Points.

It's pretty early in the morning now (1.45 a.m.) and I'm sorry for the time of this post but I had to get a few things off my chest or out of my head. I've been lying in bed for the past hour tossing and turning with so much on my mind. Thought I better come here now and at least unload this part of what I've been thinking about. Not sure it has made much of a difference but at least its written down now.

p.s. I should take more notice of this saying but I'm frustrated and impatient at the moment.

Starting to see results - I'm excited.............

As the title of the post says I'm starting to see results in my clothing sizes and I'm excited.

When I started this journey I was wearing a size 26 top as I like them lose, especially around my stomach and a size 22 pants or skirts.

I got some money from colleagues when I left the Bank a week and a half ago and decided that I wanted a new red top to wear when I went out to lunch on Sunday with Brad and my brother. So off to the local shopping centre I went Sunday morning. To my surprise I got into a size 20 top in Target (its a kind of clinging one) and I think I look good in it. Brad said I did when I modeled it for him when I got home. I then went off to Autograph (use to be 16-26) and the last time I got something from then it was either a 24 or 26 can't remember, well I got into a size 20 there too. I ended up buying 2 tops from there that are a little baggy kind of tops and I seriously think I could have gotten into a size 18 in these particular tops. I did try on another figure hugging top which was a size 20 and I looked good in it when I saw it from the front but when I turned around and saw it from behind I didn't look comfortable in it any more. I think I might get it anyway in a few weeks time if its still there.

I love the autograph clothing line as I think it looks great on and a little more stylish than other bigger ladies clothing lines. I would love to shop at say Myers but sadly can't afford to anymore, especially with the increase in interest rates, petrol, food and bills.

Normally I hate shopping as nothing looks good on me but after Sunday's trip I'm feeling better about myself and happy I'm finally seeing results in my clothing sizes.

Its also a good reminder to me that whilst the scales aren't moving how I'd love them too, things are still happening to my body and I am getting smaller. I think it might be time to do my measurements again as well.

Oh and one last point. I am now wearing a pair of jeans I bought from 16-26 (autograph) that are a size 18 with no elastic waist and they are really comfortable to wear. I do have a pair 18 with a little bit of elastic in the waist and I can get them on and off without undoing the zipper. Yesterday I was going through my jeans and found that I can get on and do up 2 pairs of jeans with a bit of elastic in the waist that are size 16, yes that is a size 16 but they are a bit too tight around the stomach to wear out. I was very excited about that and can't wait to get into them so they are comfortable to wear out.

The past few days have been good days as far as trying on clothes go and just a reminder to me that the scales are not the be end and all.

I also found a really good site via a link from CK that y
ou give them a photo of yourself and then they show you how you will look when you have lost say 50 pounds which is about 22 kilos and I must say that I was also excited over the result I got back. It works that you send them a picture of yourself standing up and then within 48 hours they send you a picture back showing you how you look when you have lost a certain amount of weight (the most you can chose is 50 pounds). I got my picture back within 4 hours.

The website address is http://www.weightview.com/new

The photo I used was the photo Brad took of me at the start of the FX challenge and the results are as follows:-

This photo is taken of me at the beginning of the FX challenge (1 April 2008).

This is the photo that they send me showing me how I will look after losing 50 pounds or about 22 kilos (that would make me 88 kilos in this photo).

I think I look great here and can't wait to be there. My goal is to be at 90 kilos when I go overseas in September 2008 which is only a few kilos heavier than this photo.

I am going to use this photo to keep me on track and inspire me to achieve my goals.

City to Surf entries have just opened and I bit the bullet this year and decided to join my FX friends and walk with them. Normally I do most of the training with them and pike out when it comes time to register. This year I decided that I would walk it with them and use this and all of the training to help me get to my weight loss goals.

For any one wanting to enter the website is http://city2surf.sunherald.com.au/home.php

I still think the $40 entry fee is a bit much but oh well I've entered now and have to do it. I just hope the rain stays away this week in Sydney so I can get some walking in.

Sorry this post is along one it didn't start out to be. I was going to post this in two posts but got on a role here....

Revised Weight Loss Goals.

With my overseas holiday only 17 weeks ago, I've decided to change a few of my goal rewards around. I have 15 kilos to lose before I go away so I will need to be on track the whole time......

* 10% weight watchers goal of 104.3 kilos is going to be a Gym Membership (will probably be the local non fancy gym but that's OK)

* 100 kilo goal is a Wii (might get this duty free when I go away, if they sell them)

* 95 kilo goal is a Wii Fit (might also get this duty free when I go away, if I can)

* 90 kilo goal is a shopping trip in Pukhet.

* 85 kilo goal is a Day spa for a facial, massage and pedicure.

* 80 kilo goal is a Games for my Wii.

* 75 kilo goal is a Day spa for another facial, massage and pedicure.

* 70 kilo goal is a weekend away with Brad (venue to be decided yet)

* 65 kilo goal is a Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb

17 Weeks to go

There is 17 weeks to go and I'm getting very excited..... I'm off on another Overseas trip. This trip and the shopping I'm planning on doing will be my goal for reaching 90 kilos. Now I've just got to get there and I've got 17 weeks to do it.

We are spending 8 days in Pukhet shopping and relaxing, which is also going to be great.

The picture above is an picture of Pukhet from the air.

This picture is a picture of Singapore from the air.

My brother and I are off to Singapore for the Formula 1 Grand Prix. Now I love going to a Grand Prix but this one is extra special because it will be the first night race ever.

I've never been to either of these two places so it should be a great holiday.

Brad is staying home this trip and looking after my 2 cats Zac and Zelda.

Weigh In Week 14 (Weight Watchers)

Week 14 weigh in @ Weight Watchers this week.

Start Weight on 8/2/2008 = 115.9 kilos

Last week 17/5/2008 = 108.4 kilos
This week 24/5/2008 = 105.9 kilos
Loss this week 2.4 kilos.

Loss so far 10 kilos in 14 weeks (previously I was including the 2 weeks that I didn't weigh in at Weight Watchers but have now decided not too).

This week was like starting all over again as it was Brad's first week at Weight Watchers and it was a week that I was feeling in control of things again. Brad also had a good week and lost 2.3 kilos. I am very happy for him but also pleased with myself that I lost more than he did (only just).

Exercise didn't really happen this week, only twice, so this week we are going to increase it to 3 times (joint exercise).

Feeling Optmistic about things...

I think I cat fairy has blessed my house over the past few days, well maybe not but since Brad has joined weight watchers yesterday things have been a bit better.

Yesterday was a bit of a tense day, as he was getting use to the program and points system. I can't believe he read each and every page of both points guides during the day. I helped him plan his food yesterday and got the feeling that I'd have to plan both of our food diaries every day and so wasn't looking forward to that. Some days I can barely plan my own food, let alone someone else's. The only meal we eat the same is dinner.

Brad gets up a few hours earlier than me, you could say he's a morning person and I'm not, so by the time I'd gotten myself out of bed, he had planned today's food all on his own (we had already worked out what we were having for dinner the night before). I have to admit I was really impressed, I only had to suggest he eat a little more at lunch time instead of snacking during the day. At the moment he seems really focused on this. For his stake I hope he has a good week this week, otherwise his mojo will probably slip. Oh he has also found the joy of increasing your fluid to 8 cups a day, when your not use to it. The only toilet we have is upstairs and right now he wants to put another one in the laundry downstairs (really old townhouse with only one toilet).

The weather was quiet chilly today and I wasn't feeling very well, think a cold might be coming on but we did manage to go for a 30 minute walk tonight. I need to slowly introduce him to walking, that way he can keep up with me. I so hate when we go for a 60 minute walk, cause its a bit too far for him to keep up with me and I end up walking about 8 paces in front of him and think why bother walking together, I should just go by myself instead.

I'm feeling very in control at the moment and great about this journey again.

I will get to goal, one day!!!!!!!!!!! It will happen I just need to keep taking one step at a time......... As my weight watchers leader said to me the other day, we will have lots of bad times during this journey but all that matters, is that we keep going on it and never give up.

Weigh In day

Its weigh in day again and I must admit that I have tracked my food all week or exercised since last Sunday. So I'm grateful of the following results:-

Start Weight on 8/2/2008 = 115.9 kilos

Last week 10/5/2008 = 107.9 kilos
This week 17/5/2008 = 108.4 kilos
Gain this week 0.4 kilos.
Loss so far 7.6 kilos in 15 weeks.

As I said above I only have myself to blame.

Good news is that Brad joined Weight Watchers today and is now doing the points program with me. So far he is keen to know about the points program and interested in the point value, which is good. The good thing was that there was actually 3 other men in the meeting today, which will keep him inspired to keep going to the meetings (I hope!!!!!!).

After working out how many points Brad can have I so wish I was a man. He weighs 17 kilos less than me, but because he has a fairly physical job and is a man he gets 10 points a day more than me. So not fair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!! Again I so wish I was a bloke sometimes.................

I'm using today as a clean slate and looking forward to the week ahead. I have already been for a 30 minute walk this morning and will go for another 30 min walk this afternoon.

Edited later:- Was too cold for Brad tonight and we didn't end up going for the walk, but we both kept to our points for the day. First time in a few weeks for me.....

The sad note today was that my weight watchers leader left our meeting today, as she has been recruited to the pilot program that weight watchers are having, being one on one consultations in Myers stores. Anita is a lovely leader and it was really sad to see her go, I just hope the replacement leader is just as lovely and bubbly, as the leader makes all the difference to the meeting. She will be missed by lots of the members.

Note to myself.

I need to remember to drink 2 - 3 litres of water per day..........

I need to walk 60 minutes per day............

I need to track my points and stick to them every day...........

I need to remember that I do not need junk food or chocolate...........

I need to remember that I do not need to emotionally eat and
there are other ways to release stress etc.........

I need to remember I can do this.............

I am worth it and I love myself..............

Feeling a bit out of control

I should use this blog more often than I do, especially to get some of the thoughts and feels that I carry around inside of me out.

I have been feeling so out of control the past few weeks and have been meaning to come and blog but it felt just too over whelming to come and type my problems out.

2 1/2 weeks ago I resigned from my job, which mind you I've worked for this company for 21 years. The main reasons I resigned was that I was stressed which started to affect my health via tension headaches, unhappy, hate the pressure of the job and basically I need a change. I did look for something different within the company but there was nothing I was happy doing. Deep down I so think I need to get out of Banking but that's a scary thought as its all I've really ever done. So now I leave this company in just over 1 1/2 weeks time. The future is a little scary but I'm sure I will be fine. I am in discussions with one of my clients and we are looking for me to do some contract work for them with a new product line. I do have the added comfort of having 14 weeks long service leave up my sleeve but once I pay a few bills, that money isn't going to go to far, so I have to ensure this new product line works and works fast.

I also so hate not being in control of my life and what happens to me. I haven't been all that happy with Brad and his lack of motivation when it comes to getting a job which has also put pressure on me. So far he is working casually but doesn't always get work and was using the excuse that he didn't have a car to use as an excuse. I did offer him mine and I would walk to work but he didn't like that idea. So after lots of discussions and fights between Brad and me, my brother and I have decided that he can use Dad's car as it is just sitting there doing nothing. We were going to sell Dad's car as it wasn't being used by Paul decided that if Brad can use it then we will keep it. He has now been working more regular since he has had the car.

As I've said before I also haven't been happy with my weight loss efforts to date. I do realise that they need to fit into my life and not the other way around but still 2 kilos in 6 weeks just doesn't cut it for me................ I also realise that I am the person who buts the food into my mouth and chews it, so I only have myself to blame on this one. This week has been a bit better and I'm hoping for a good result come weigh in day on Saturday. Saturday is also the day that Brad starts weight watchers. I've also been encouraged this week with Brad taking more interest in what food he has been eating and what the points value is of the food. He has also been cutting down on how much he has been eating and was complaining how hunger he was last night. Mind you this was after dinner and we had 4 slices of roast beef, 2 baby potatoes, 2 small pieces of pumpkin, 2 small pieces of sweet potato, 1/2 cup of peas, 1/2 cup of beans and 1/2 cup of corn kernels for dinner. Well all I can say is that I was stuffed after eating that. My battle at the moment with Brad and his food is getting him to eat 2 pieces of fruit and 5 servings of veggies each night. Last night with the roast was easy but its not going to be that easy every night. Tonight we are having Satay Chicken with stir fry veggies with rice so he will probably only have 2 or 3 servings of veggies. Well I guess that is better than nothing and maybe I'm just being too hard on him. He does try hard and there has only been 2 meals that I've cooked that he didn't like.

I also having a problem with not being able to do things by myself. It seems that every time I go shopping that Brad has to come with me, we don't always shop together but its hard getting use to him always being there. I do get to go walking by myself but that is mainly because Brad doesn't have proper walking shoes and ends up with sore feet and also he can't keep up with me. Don't get me wrong I love having him around, its just that I'm a very independent person who loves her own space and doing something by myself.

Sorry if this sounds all over the place but basically I've just typed it as I was thinking about it.

I'm sure things will get easier and better.

There is heaps more that I'd love to get off my chest but I have a few things that need to be done right now so I'm sure I will be back tomorrow to continue this little rant.

Reward Goals

I've been thinking about how I can reward myself along my weight loss journey. I'm also hopping that these can keep me on track. My reward goals are:-

* 10% weight watchers goal of 104.3 kilos is going to be a Gym Membership (will probably be the local non fancy gym but that's OK)

* 100 kilo goal is a new push bike (the one I have is too big for me and I don't use it cause I can't stand up properly on it. I will probably sell it on ebay).

* 95 kilo goal is going to a Day spa for a facial, massage and pedicure

* 90 kilo goal is a shopping trip in Pukhet.

* 85 kilo goal is a Wii

* 80 kilo goal is a Wii Fit

* 75 kilo goal is a Day spa for another facial, massage and pedicure

* 70 kilo goal is a weekend away with Brad (venue to be decided yet)

* 65 kilo goal is a Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb

Now weight watchers Online (Ultimate package) has a final goal weight of 63 kilos for me. I'm not sure if I will get there as my goal was 65 kilos for me but I have a goal anyway for it. It will be a weekend away in Melbourne, shopping, seeing Carlton play AFL, eating in Lygon St and generally showing Brad around Melbourne.

Brad and I have had a long chat about losing weight and that he wants to lose weight but not sure how to go about it or what he needs to do. As part of our chat I suggested that he joins Weight Watchers and he has decided to join Weight Watchers too, this Saturday. I'm happy about this as it will make things easier for me in my weight loss journey, as presently he is bringing a lot of junk food etc into the house and at the moment I don't have the strength to resist. He doesn't need to lose as much weight as me, but he does need to lose about 25 - 30 kilos and if we do this together, we can help each other out and support each other.

Weight in - Week 14

This is what half of kilo of fat looks like and this is what I lost this week. I should be happy with this but I'm not really.

Today was weigh in day at weight watchers.

Start Weight on 8/2/2008 = 115.9 kilos

Last week 03/5/2008 = 108.4 kilos
This week 10/5/2008 = 107.9 kilos
Loss this week 0.5 kilos.
Loss so far 8 kilos in 14 weeks.

I'm happy I've lost 8 kilos but I'm not happy how slowly its taken since Brad moved in. I've been looking at my weight results since he moved in and they have been all over the place and this is because he has been sabotaging me and I've been letting him. He tells me that he wants to lose weight but he keeps buying me ice cream, cream (light) and light custard etc. If I'm to get to my goals then his has to stop. We had a serious talk today and I suggested that if he is serious about losing weight then he has to join Weight Watchers with me and come along every week. To my surprise he has agreed to join next week and going forward it is going to so much easier staying on track.

I also explained that him bringing junk food into the house including light cream & custard has to be reduced, I don't have the will power to say no to it at the moment. We go through 1 litre of light custard and one aerosol can of light cream a week. My problem is if junk food, custard, ice cream, cream etc is there I will eat it, if not then I want.

I also haven't made my goal for the half way mark in the FX End of Financial Year Challenge. My goal was to lose 5 kilos by this week but I have only lost 2.7 kilos. I will need to pull my finger out and keep focused if I'm to make my 10 kilo goal loss for this challenge.

Tomorrow is Mothers Day and we are planning on walking the 4km Mothers Day Classic. I would walk the 8km's but Brad can't walk that far at the moment. As it is we will start out together on the 4km walk and he will end up slowing down, so we will finish it at different times.
